Plugging in HDMI to TV, both displays go black

Hey y’all,

I’m a bit of a noob here. I just recently got an HP laptop (see information specs below) and installed Linux Manjaro 5.10 LTS. When plugging in an HDMI from my laptop to my TV the TV picks up a signal but the screen is black, and also my laptop’s screen is black. When unplugging the laptop from the HDMI the TV goes back to searching for a signal but the laptop screen remains black, and there seems to be no way to interact with it anymore. Any suggestions? Is this a driver issue?
