Plasmashell Random Restart. Applications Show on All Activites

I get this random issue that occurs at least once a day where my plasmashell would restart. My desktop flickers black for a second and then a couple issue arise.

  • Night color button in system tray doesn’t toggle/work. I have to go to the configuration setting to make it work
  • All windows maximized before the restart will appear as such, regardless if the button is toggled on or off (I have to manually adjust the min size again)
  • Any Activities used (6 total) will have all opened applications appear on said Activities. I have individually set them up again.

My normal workaround is to kill and restart plasmashell; this fixes the first problem only, though.

It’s a bug, or perhaps better put, a whole series of bugs. The Plasma compositor was completely rewritten for Plasma 5.23.x, and the new code base obviously still contains many bugs.

Unfortunately, there is nothing the Manjaro developers can do to remedy this. The problem lies upstream, with the KDE developers themselves. All we can do is wait until the bugs are fixed.

:man_shrugging:

Well then…

I hope this hasn’t been an issue for a long time. If virtual desktop supported different wallpapers I would just use those; sadly they don’t, at least not natively from what I’ve read.
