Echoing dead keys when typing

Hi! I’m having this problem when typing: when I press a dead key( tilde for Spanish Latin american) , it’s supposed to do nothing until i press another key. But in my case, the symbol is
shown with a little bar below it until another key is pressed. it doesn’t seems to be a big deal, but is really uncomfortable because, for example, if I press the backspace after it, the symbol is not erased and keeps floating until I use another dead key. Another weird thing is that, if I press the
key three times, in some apps i can see something like this: ? ’ ?

Here some info of my system (sorry, I’m new into this and I don’t know what info could be relevant)

System:
Kernel: 5.10.26-1-MANJARO x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 10.2.0
Desktop: i3 4.19.1 Distro: Manjaro Linux base: Arch Linux

This is an ongoing upstream GTK issue - there is no immediate solution.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, there has obviously been a change upstream in the keyboard behavior with dead keys. However, the dead keys do still behave as they did before. It’s only a visual difference. I’m experiencing this myself as well in GTK-based applications like Chromium.
