Pamac only finds AUR packages for some programs

I just did a fresh install of Manjaro KDE 21.2rc1 testing branch and have been building up it slowly. I noticed earlier that when I went to install Vivaldi-Shapshot, Google-Chrome, and KSmoothDock I was only offered the build versions from AUR. All 3 have versions available through Pamac that do not have to be built. Is there a current issue with Pamac?

No, that is not correct. vivaldi is in the Manjaro repo, but I’m on Stable, so the version you are trying to pull in might be from the AUR. The other two packages you are naming are AUR-only.

All three packages have always been in the AUR, nothing has changed. Both google-chrome and vivaldi-snapshot have binary sources, so while Pamac technically builds the package to install, there is no compiling involved.

 In other words: AUR does have packages with pre-compiled sources.

I have pamac right in front of my face telling me otherwise. Both ksmoothdock and brave-snapshot I was only offered the packages to build when pamac should of listed both the straight install versions of each and the build versions of each. I chose to go ahead and build them since I wasn’t offered anything else. The only google-chrome that comes up at all is under AUR and it’s one that gets built. See screenshots.

As explained above, there is no “straight install versions” to provide for those packages, as they are not in Manjaro’s repositories.

I think I know what’s going on here. You were using the Chaotic-AUR repo before, weren’t you?

is that what is missing? I did’t mention that also whoogle I had to build. There is a 7.? that installs and a 7.? that builds. Only the build one shows up.

Thanks for that. Installed, checked for Chrome and looks good.

vivaldi-snapshot is also available in herecura repo.

I’m aware, but that only helps with it and nothing else.
