Pamac-manager coredump

Since the last stable update pamac-manager is dropping coredumps under certain conditions:

  1. when simply launched as usual:
$ pamac-manager
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
  1. when launched into updates the interface will open, “Updates” and “Installed” are accessible and working, search is working across repos / flatpak / AUR, but selecting “Browse” will result in another coredump with the following error message:
$ pamac-manager --updates
MESA-INTEL: warning: ../mesa-24.3.4/src/intel/vulkan/anv_formats.c:782: FINISHME: support YUV colorspace with DRM format modifiers
MESA-INTEL: warning: ../mesa-24.3.4/src/intel/vulkan/anv_formats.c:814: FINISHME: support more multi-planar formats with DRM modifiers

I re-installed pamac and pamac-gtk, but it didn’t improved the situation, still the same issue.

Some system info would be useful. Please provide the output of:

Checked my HTPC running XFCE, pamac-gtk3 = no issue.

I just checked on Plasma using gtk3 version.

running pamac-manager without any arguments does segfault

 $ pamac-manager --version
Pamac  10.7.0
 $ pamac-manager
[...]
(pamac-manager:256968): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 14:59:46.835: gdk_window_set_cursor: assertion 'GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It is a bit strange that using the launcher - there is no error - which indicates that using the entry point is somehow faulty but how - and what is passed in, making the desktop launcher work but the commandline not?

 $ cat /usr/share/applications/org.manjaro.pamac.manager.desktop | grep -e 'Exec='
Exec=pamac-manager %U
Exec=pamac-manager --updates

Cheers for the sanity check :')

Looks like this report on github

did some more checking - inspired by above

First time running pamac-manager on commandline - segfault - then I use ps

 $ ps aux | grep -i pamac
root      222640  0.2  0.0 366464 23236 ?        Ssl  05:27   0:00 /usr/bin/pamac-daemon
fh        223577  0.0  0.0   9304  5732 pts/2    S+   05:27   0:00 grep --color=auto --exclude-dir=.bzr --exclude-dir=CVS --exclude-dir=.git --exclude-dir=.hg --exclude-dir=.svn -i pamac

Second time launching from commandline - the launch is succesful - yesterday I had several segfault in a row - so I decided to retest

On every run I get message stating

(pamac-manager:278788): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 05:33:04.401: gdk_window_set_cursor: assertion 'GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

But the segfault appears to be random - even though the message is with every run - strange ?

Yeah, thanks. Looks like issue is known and worked on. Let’s mark this “solved” for now.

Note I have been testing this. Uninstalling the gtk3 version and installing the gtk4 versions fixes it for a while, and then it corrupts again and uninstalling the gtk4 version and going back to the gtk3 version will fix it for a while again.

refreshing databases does not help

When it is crashing, if you open the kde menu and right click the add/remove programs app and select update software, pamanc-manager will open. You can click on the installed tab no problem and it will show you all your installed software. As soon as you click the Browse tab though, instant CTD.

Hope it helps.
