Pacman returning error whenever used

Any time I try to use pacman for anything, I recieve the following error warning: database file for 'landware' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) error: failed to prepare transaction (could not find database)
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Please post your /etc/pacman.conf. There’s probably a typo in there.

I get the same error. Perhaps it doesn’t exist in the Manjaro Repos… just a thought.

[tracy@daphne ~]$ pacman -Qi landware
error: package 'landware' was not found

As far as i can tell Landware Apps are designed to work on IPhones, as such are designed NOT to work on Linux based Operating Systems.

The only thing I can suggest is to remove the package.

This may work:

sudo pacman -Rns landware

… if it doesn’t, let us know.

I’d be interested to know how you installed it. Was it a Flatpak or AppImage, for example? It doesn’t appear to be in the repositories or the AUR.

@BG405

Returned the following error: warning: database file for 'landware' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) error: target not found: landware
I don’t remember ever installing anything called landware is the weird thing about it.

Mod edit: Consecutive posts merged.

I’d remove this bit from the file (save a backup first, if unsure, or just comment those lines out).

Note that adding e.g. Arch Extra (or any other repo) is not generally advised (or supported) by Manjaro.

Okay that worked to fix that specific problem, and it no longer stops at that point when I try to update, but now a new one has shown up. Should I make a new topic for it since it’s a new problem or just continue it here?

You could give some details here and it can be split off into a new topic, if the issue is indeed unrelated.

Not necessary to create a new topic

Remember that 3rd-party repositories are unsupported.

The specific message indicates that the url point to the landware repository is incorrect.

Try following the url - perhaps the server certificate has expired or otherwise invalid.

https://repo.kage.sj.strangled.net/landware/x86_64

It is certainly not a known big 3rd party repo. And is hosted on a ddns domain. That means it is either a private experiment of one person which can stop working anytime as it did, or a pentest repo, or just malware.

To sum up: if you don’t know what it is and why it doesn’t work, you shouldn’t use it.
It is certainly dubious enough that we don’t want it linked or debugged here.

The original question how to restore the system to a supported state was answered. Checkmark added. Link in the post above removed for seo purposes (in case it is malware we don’t want to link to it). Third party repos are unsupported and unsecure and will not be debugged here - a closure is due.
