Origin not launching within Steam

According to ProtonDB it works.

Delete the prefix (for FIFA 22 it should be ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1506830) and try again to do the first time setup and all.

Origin is problematic under Proton though, but the game should work once it is installed in Origin.

If it is installed in another location than the default, then the prefix will be in the upper folders of the game installation path, check /home/HDD/SteamLibrary/compatdata to locate the prefix folder.

I’m sorry I forgot about that, I just did it and OriginThinSetup is being installed again, we will see if it crashes when it is in the middle of its download or not

You can try some workarounds:

Navigate to ../compatdata/1506830/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/FIFA 22 and edit fifasetup.ini.

Change from default DX12 to Dx11 by setting it to 1

DIRECTX_SELECT = 1

If that doesn’t help you can try some tweaks for DX12:

DIRECTX_SELECT = 0

MSAA_LEVEL = 3

RENDERINGQUALITY = 4 (May not be necessary)

WAITFORVSYNC = 0

After you saved that file, do not open the Graphics settings in the GUI on launch since they will be reset.
If nothing of that helps I’m out of ideas and, as pointed out it could be the GPU.

Thanks friend, DIRECTX_SELECT = 1 was enough. For those who have the same problem, my solution was first to delete the folder 1506830 (answer 4) and then the answer 24
