I’ve just installed Optimus Manager on my Manjaro XFCE machine (detailed machine info below). It works as intended when running either Integrated-only (optimus-manager --switch integrated
) or NVIDIA-only (optimus-manager --switch nvidia
), but I’m presented with a blank login screen, with only my cursor, if I choose hybrid mode (optimus-manager --switch hybrid
).
Essentially, all I see is a blank screen with a cursor. I can move the cursor around, but there’s nothing for it to interact with. I used TTY to change Optimus Manager’s settings and login while running either Integrated or NVIDIA, but it’d be great to be able to run hybrid mode so I can be more efficient.
What I have done: installed lib32-nvidia-utils
to solve an unrelated issue (Steam doesn’t open when running NVIDIA-only, and part of the fix seems to be installing these utils). However, the blank screen has persisted both BEFORE and AFTER installing these utils.
Here’s my .conf for Optimus Manager:
$ cat optimus-manager.conf

[intel]

And here’s more info about my machine:
OS: Manjaro Linux x86_64
Host: HP ENVY TS 14 Sleekbook 0888100000305B0000
Kernel: 5.11.10-1-MANJARO
Shell: bash 5.1.0

Terminal: xfce4-terminal
CPU: Intel i5-4200U (4) @ 2.600GHz
GPU: Intel Haswell-ULT
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
Do let me know if there’s anything else I can share that will help (greatly appreciate specific terminal commands if possible, since I’m still fairly new to Manjaro & Linux).
Thank you so much!
EDIT: Just one other thing, I do have a custom greeter (LightDM GTK) installed for my login screen. Not sure if that plays a part here, but happy to share more info about it if so.
