Optical drive won’t read DVDs after first dvd was ejected

I was in the process of backing up my personal DVDs and I ejected the first disk via the file manager. When I put the next disk in it never read. Initial the drive spun extremely fast and never stopped so I rebooted the PC, now the drive whirls and turns off as if there was no disk in it.

This is the integrated optical drive on a Dell optiplex 755.

Just did a complete computer restart by shutting it all down in the software and then unplugged it for a bit, now it is reading the next DVD………
