Only Half ram recognized in free-m output

Since an update Only half of my RAM is recognized by Manjaro. I have 16GB (8*gig x2) ram installed and recognized by BIOS.My windows partition also shows 16gigs.

Is it an option to place the second RAM module in the slot linked to bank 1?

@Wollie I’ve not tried the other RAM slots on my Motherboard.I’ll try using Bank 1 and Bank 3.

Have you run memtest?
Have the two modules the same part number?
Have you tried to use different slots, as mentioned already?
Have you checked all firmware options linked to your RAM?

No i have not tried a memtest.
No both modules have different part numbers , but they have the same speed (2133MHz) .
Yes tried using Bank 1 and Bank 3. Still 8gb.
No i don’t think this has something to do with the firmware because before the June 2021 it recognized all 16GB in manjaro.

You say if you boot to Windows right now it detects and use all your RAM?

What happens if you try each stick of RAM independently and in different ports? Same behavior (in Manjaro or Windows)?

Last time I saw exact same thread Second RAM module is recognized but not being used - #10 by arshadpakkali the end result was one module was defective. So go ahead try them one by one, on different OS and slot.

Probably no issue, then.

I would try to use only one module, see if it works, then try the other one. If they both work when used alone, I would continue to use them on different slots, cleaning the contacts might be a good idea as well. Be aware, sometimes the system boots up even when a memory module is broken. Afterwards, please report the results.

What I also saw is, that there are firmware updates available, it would be advisable to update your firmware, e.g. using Hiren’s BootCD.

Well, I Tried memtest and it only detected 8GB .

I also tried booting with only one of the RAM stick and was able to isolate what’s causing the problem. The older module is dead. The Gskill ram modules come with a lifetime warranty and I’m hoping to get it replaced.
