[Unstable Update] 2021-05-17 - Kernels, Systemd, Toolchain, KDE Gear, LibreOffice, Haskell

Hello community,

Another unstable branch update with some usual updates for you.

Find out more about the new Starbook by Starlabs!

  • Most of our Kernels got updated
  • We renewed the toolchain. Not all kernels are yet recompiled against it. So update tomorrow if you rely on dkms and extramodules
  • KDE Gear got updated to 21.04.1
  • LibreOffice got renewed to 7.0.6
  • We did a cleanup of old KDE-git packages, as we have daily builds in the [kde-unstable] repo
  • Other regular upstream updates including python and haskell

Get our latest daily developer images now from Github: Plasma, Gnome, XFCE. You get the latest stable releases of Manjaro from CDN77.

Nice, thank you Manjaro team.

No words about Gnome?

I was curious why I can not see latest kernel, but after refresh and update I am on 5.13

We’ve just updated nvidia to version 465.31 and thunderbird to 78.10.2

Just wanted to highlight that the issue with proprietary nvidia driver freezing the system when some monitors are connected via DP port is still present in v465.31.

As long as Nvidia can’t reproduce that issue on their end, no fix will happen. Therefore, don’t use DP for now.

CUDA, NVENC stopped working after Nvidia 465.31-1 update. Tested with Shotcut (no NVENC detected) and Blender (CUDA and Optix). Kernel 5.12.4-2

Anybody else with the same problem?

I did the update a bit late since the announcement was made, hence i had CUDA 11.3.0-2 and Blender 17:2.92.0-7 update as well, and is working fine with nvidia 465.31-1 drivers and in 5.12 and 5.13 kernels.
I don’t use Shotcut, so no idea how that deals with NVENC, but OBS has no complain and works fine with it.

:information_source: PSA: With Pipewire 0.3.28, you will end up with .pacsave's if you’ve modified any of the configuration files.

Config files are now installed in the data dir, system
overrides in /etc/pipewire and $HOME are checked first.

Hello! I don’t know if I should post this issue here (If I should post it somewhere else, please tell me).

I love gnome 40 on Manjaro! That’s why I went to unstable. But I am facing two issues. I am not very well versed in Linux concepts so I’ll try my best to explain what I can understand.

  1. When using media keys (next track, previous track, play/pauze (not the volume keys for some reason)), the system freezes.
  2. When I boot, my system get’s stuck at a black screen (no blinking white cursor). I’ve tried to look trough the log files but can’t find anything that would seem to cause the issue. I now start gnome by going to another shell (trough ctrl+alt+f2) and running startX.

Both issues only occur when plugged in to an external screen.
I am using a Dell XPS 15 1995 which has Nvidia 960M and an Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz × 8

It’s better to start a separate thread in Support category. Especially if it has no relation with some updates from this branch.

Just reporting this for future reference.

Today’s graphviz update gives a warning:

It seems to be related to an optional dependency for gtk2. Apparently, this can be safely ignored.

Does `apparmor` package should be rebuilted or should I remove /usr/lib/perl5/5.32 directory?

while update I saw

Yes. It will be coming along shortly.

No. Once anything that has files there is rebuilt for Perl 5.34, the directory will no longer exist.
