one more subtlety of compiling your own kernel march=native
pretty sure you have to run make nconfig (etc.) and disable cpu types of everything other than your own cpu type, so in my case the only entry that covers the amd cpu types
shame the flipping compile does not fail until like an hour and a half in eh! and then does not explain in any way why it failed eh!
and how long it took me to think… ah! maybe it’s that!
how much energy Kwh pissed up the wall failed compiling eh!

and that may be the reason the person in the threads I quote there is having problems compiling…
is it worth doing? yeah!, I’d say a 10% improvement in speed in mpeg encoding while at same time having jackd running fast with 0 dropouts… at stock jackd cannot even run slow without dropouts…
