Odroid C4 + Manjaro ARM testing 2020.05.14 :-)

I built a testing image today for the c4, thanks a lot to Strit for his help

sudo buildarmimg -d oc4 -e kde-plasma -v 20.05.14_01 -n -b arm-testing

The image boot on emmc module, sd card not tested for the moment, then the boot time is normal after each reboot
I don't have to push a keyboard key to go forward and setup the os
The setup is working well
The emmc module reboot the first time after the setup and the next time without issue
The graphic performance are good, I mean the velocity

The network is working, I wrote this post with the c4 :slight_smile:

Thats great. So it might just have been the unstable2 image that had the network issue. :stuck_out_tongue:

It's using llvmpipe, so this is no surprise. Can you check if it's different with mesa-git?
Remember to remove the QT_QUICK_BACKEND line from /etc/environment after the reboot. This will attempt to enable hardware acceleration. If the UI gets all sluggish, it's because Panfrost does not support the GPU yet.

So, I created the file 01-lima.conf 2 in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/

I installed sudo pacman -S mesa-git

I can't delete sudo pacman -R xf86-video-fbturbo-git

I deleted the line QT_QUICK_BACKEND

I rebooted, I run right now glmark2 -s 1920x1080

The Odroid C4 is not a Lima device, it's a Panfrost device. The driver just does not support it yet I think. That's what mesa-git will show you. :slight_smile:

Yesterday I built a kde image.

manajaro arm testing with the c4 is working well, the ssh is working, vnc is ok (krfb, krdc), samba works with some parameters.

What are you using to flash to SD card? I made a minimal image but it didn't seem to boot even after waiting for a bit (stuck on continuous blue light = bootloader). I may have interrupted something since it doesn't even get that far now.

Scratch that, it boots up according to the blue LED, but no display output.

To flash the image I use belena-etcher, I use the emmc module, not the sd card, sorry.

Did you built a testing image or a stable image for the c4?

I only use the testing image for the moment, I built today a stable image, but can't test it for the moment.

I used the Etcher as well. I'll try testing. Ubuntu images provided by hardkernel work fine from SD card. I don't have emmc so I hope I will be able to figure out how to make the SD card work.

How long should it take to boot at first? Is there anything special that needs to run or is it the same as subsequent boots?

I installed the testing update this afternoon, it reboot very quickly, it take a few second.

Do you not even get the Manjaro logo at boot?

I built the image on June 1st. Maybe things changed so we will see when I flash the new one.

No logo. On second try the blue light started blinking instead of just shining so supposedly it got at least somewhere?

I'm not sure, Strit have to confirm, but I think for your minimal you need this line

sudo buildarmimg -d oc4 -e minimal -v 20.06.04 -n

minimal will be a lot smaller image. :slight_smile:

Yeah. Blinking blue LED means it's running the kernel.
Can you SSH to the board?

The default option for edition is mininal, so you only need to specify it, if you want to build another edition. :slight_smile:
