Odd booting Behaviour/Boot Lottery On HP Elitebook 735

i added the parameters, but not the mkinitcpio.conf

so do that too:
sudo nano /etc/mkinitcpio.conf
edit the modules section to look like this:
MODULES=(amdgpu radeon)
save it with ctrl+x
update it:
sudo mkinitcpio -P
reboot

Ooops didnt update it

Updated 6 no boots so far

what do you mean?

In a row, its just gets to the hp screen after decryption, and that’s it. Stopped booting every other time
Grub menu display is gone too

12 attempts now, damn. Guess i gotta repair something with a live iso now.

so adding the modules causes this issue? very interesting…
so if you cant boot, you have to boot into live usb, chroot, and revert the mkinitcpio.conf

And what do i do about the encryption of the disk btw? When i boot from usb

here is an example:

sudo cryptsetup -v luksOpen /dev/nvme0n1p2 cryptDrive
sudo mount /dev/mapper/cryptDrive /mnt
sudo manjaro-chroot /mnt

where the /dev/nvme0n1p2 you replace with your partition…
you can check with:

lsblk -o PATH,PTTYPE,PARTTYPE,FSTYPE,PARTTYPENAME

Live hangs up now…wtf at random points, yeah just does not want to, random points. bluetooth host etc. Ill switch us port maybe

thats what i thought… that the mkinitcpio is not related, it didnt make sense…
were you changing some bios settings? turn off your pc, wait and try again…
also try differnet usb ports

Nope didn’t open the bios Ill try to windows it maybe, then sell the thing probably also ill open it up and give the connectors a good ol reseat

are you dual booting with win?
check if fast startup is disabled, if no disable it

Nope , was only manjaro

so if you manage to boot the live usb, try also installing a newer kernel from chroot:
pacman -S linux61

Ok were live

Allright im in chroot updated the kernel removed the mkinit edit. Is it in grub the edit of kernel parameters?

the kernel parameters are in grub:
nano /etc/default/grub

Seems to be hardware sadly, every second time the thing refuses the live usb

you did say that you installed the linux61, did it help with booting into your installation?

Nope, it just pops a speaker very quetly whenever it tries to load anything linux related and freezes now…Well ill windows it see if it makes a diifference, just bought the damn thing used. Nvm after 7 attempts it loaded live iso again
