Nvidia-vaapi-driver-git conflicting files: nvidia_drv_video.so already exists in filesystem (owned by libva-vdpau-driver)

I was trying to install nvidia-vaapi-driver-git 0.0.4.r8.g8806b61-1, and it failed with

conflicting files:

  • nvidia-vaapi-driver-git: /usr/lib/dri/nvidia_drv_video.so already exists in filesystem (owned by libva-vdpau-driver)

In the AUR web page, there were lots of comments about conflicts, but I don’t really know much about graphics drivers, compilation, or packages to fix this problem myself. Is there any easy way to fix this, or should I just give up?

You should uninstall the conflicting package first, and/or understand pacman to force the installation anyway.
