Nvidia Image Sharpening Greyed Out + FXAA doesn't work

Does anyone know why “image sharpening” is not available? I would love to try it out but the slider is greyed out and I can’t sort out how to enable it.

edit: …and while I’m at it, ticking the box for “FXAA” in nvidia-settings does not appear to work at all in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Opengl only, not Vulkan, or just borked?

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
  3. The output of nvidia-smi would be helpful as well.

That all looks good, so where exactly are you trying to set the image sharpening???

nvidia-settings > DP-0 (name of display) > Controls > Image Sharpening (slider at bottom).

It is greyed out in other distros too, so I am guessing it’s just some goofy nvidia thing where it only works on a certain model GPU or something. Don’t sweat it, it’s not a big deal…just “typical linux” where things only half work most of the time.

That’s apparently intentional and the same here:

:man_shrugging:

I’ve marked this answer as the solution to your question as it is by far the best answer you’ll get.

However, if you disagree with my choice, please feel free to take any other answer as the solution to your question or even remove the solution altogether: You are in control! (If you disagree with my choice, just send me a personal message and explain why I shouldn’t have done this or  or :+1: if you agree)

:innocent:
P.S. In the future, please don’t forget to come back and click the 3 dots below the answer to mark a solution like this below the answer that helped you most:

so that the next person that has the exact same problem you just had will benefit from your post as well as your question will now be in the “solved” status.
