When I want to play games mangohud reports that my gpu is throttling because of power even though my laptop is plugged into the wall.

I am using a intel/nvidia hybird configuration

Hi @SuperVidak64,

Let’s check to see if you’ve got TLP installed. Please provide the output of:

pamac search tlp

Edit:

Also, please provide the output of:

sudo inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

And any other information described here: [HowTo] Provide good information - Contributions / Tutorials - Manjaro Linux Forum

I see neither TLP nor TLP-UI is installed. Install them with:

pamac install tlpui

Since TLP is a dependency of TLPUI, it’ll be installed as well.

When done, start TLP UI from the launcher. Play around with that and see if there is something.

Note: Since I have a desktop and no such worry, this is the extent of my knowledge and I don’t really know anything more.

For more info, see:

https://linrunner.de/tlp/settings/index.html

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip!

I know that you’re on desktop but I really don’t know what to change, I only found settings for amd gpus but nothing for nvidia

Alternatively,
Have you tried to start the games using DRI_PRIME=1 in front of the starting command?

Setting that environment variable was necessary on my laptop to use the dedicated graphics

Open TLP UI and on top, make sure Configuration is selected. On the Configuration screen, select CPU on the left.

Go through all the settings there, there are good descriptions. Change and play there, I can’t help you more than that, sorry.

Hope this helps!

Edit:

While this is somewhat true:

I don’t think this has any effect on throttling. Also, AFAIK the DRI_PRIME=1 environment variable is for AMD cards, while for nVidia prime-run is used.

Edit #2:

Just saw, after I posted the previous edit, this is regarding GPU throttling, in which case @Erim’s answer is more possibly correct. But still, use prime-run instead of DRI_PRIME=1.

You are right, prime-run should be used for NVIDIA drivers.
Thank you for correcting that, I had that memorized wrong

Solved I had to apply a custom bios
