It’s possible that you didn’t do it correctly.
Which commands did you use?
I note that – at least when these inxi results were generated – you were using the Nvidia 580xx series drivers which are now known to be unpredictably unstable for some users, especially those with older hardware.
The flickering you mention is possibly (likely) due to these drivers.
Your Nvidia GP107 (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) if of the Pascal family and is not supported by the new Nvidia 590xx driver series;
As it seems you are suffering the affects of 580xx series shared by many other users, the remaining option is to switch to a previous driver:
