NTFS ssd locked

I found a previous thread I had forgotten about and as I cannot delete a post…this one will need to stay…think the other was closed anyway…

On the previous Manjaro install, it worked o.o.t.b. no issues whatsoever, which has me scratching my head about what has caused this, anyhoo, LSS- what is the best way to fix this as I believe chown will not work in these cases.

Ok, so I decided to repeat the action and transfer the files out, and change the drive to ext4…trouble is not I cannot copy it back as the permissions part of properties is greyed out…

What is the fix for that?

Try this Mount a external hard drive with execute permissions

Will it work with gparted instead? I don’t need it to mount at boot…

Then just set it to not mount at boot! Gnome Disks is the easiest, it’s a very small GTK app.

just tried - it aborted the setup (using add/remove programs app) in xfce

re-tried with a different one, this time it worked - will follow your instruction and advise…

thanks

Oh and it’s an SSD not a USB drive, so I’ll try to avoid doing that stuff…

woo hoo!! Brilliant - thanks much!
