That is correct. Or at least, so far — cross your fingers. :crossed_fingers:

Which was only a symbolical announcement, because the age field in systemdis entirely optional.

There is absolutely no reason to fork systemd over something that’s only optional, and if that fork truly comes into existence, then I don’t see it gaining any real adoption.

There’s no point, given that it’s an optional field. It is not technically required to hold any data.

It would be just as silly as forking KDE Plasma because you don’t like the default wallpaper.

In theory, then we would be using the same systemd as Arch. But Arch isn’t going to adopt that silly fork, because there is no need to.

At the moment, it would appear that they do not, but I’m not a lawyer and I don’t live in any of those places that have implemented this law.

Because Mr. Müller gets The Heebiejeebies™ at the thought of any sort of litigation — I’ve already alluded elsewhere to the time when he decided to cripple our mesa package by removing the codecs that were patented in the USA, even though the EU does not recognize the legitimacy of software patents — and because at least for now, Mr. Müller is still in a position where he can make decisions without communicating them to the rest of the team, let alone that he’d be asking for our opinion first.

And that sort of thing is exactly why we decided to publish the Manjaro 2.0 Manifesto.

This was already in the works when you started the other thread, but at that point in time the document wasn’t fully ready to be pushed out into the public awareness yet. And it wouldn’t even have been made public had Mr. Müller not ignored us, because he had already received a copy of the document two weeks before we went public, with the statement that we would do exactly that if we were being ignored.
