solved! from archlinux pages i got these two lines:
sudo rm -R /var/lib/pacman/sync
and ```
sudo -E pacman -Syu
the problem is solved and i can only hope that the computer is secured as before. LOL.
that’s what happens when elderly people are running their own system.
