No speakers out of laptop but headphones work fine

Hi I’m quite new to Linux and Manjaro.

Could you please tell me: Is there a chance to fix this problem? Could it be a missing driver? Could it be the Kernel? I have no clue. In Alsamixer I tried everything, I think there could be a problem with a profile. In pulseaudio it says: Family 17h … speaker + headphones (as 1 profile, is that possible?)
And in configuration it says at HD Audio Generic (play hifi quality music (unplugged / not available))

No speakers out of laptop but headphones work

When you say speakers, do you mean the laptop builtin speakers? On my laptop there are 2 profiles and if I have on muted and the other isn’t, when I change it (by connecting/disconnecting the headphones) the mute also changes. So check it first.

It is probably easier to install pavucontrol and check the active profiles/sinks. If you can set it accordingly with pavucontrol, then we can set it at boot in a config file.

Thank you for lookin into this problem. Really appreciate it.

Yes, I mean the builtin speakers. Have only those. No extra speakers.

I took a look in alsamixer and connected/disconnected the headphones. It behaved as you said. The mute changed. However still no sound from the builtin speakers.

In pavucontrol the same behavior.

Maybe this information helps to find out more:

This was with headphones plugged in:

could anyone help please?

Ok then probably the problem is too hard to solve or even impossible. Thanks anyway

I am sorry, but I’ve been absent. Please don’t bump the topic because that’s against forum rules.

There is a front-end for pulseaudio which allows rewiring, but I forgot the name. I’ll look it up later, at my desktop.

In the meantime, you can search for @nikgnomic’s posts on the forum as a way to get valuable information from your sound setup. He is way more into sound stuff than me and has been solving many sound problems.

Actually, the front-end is for alsa. You need to install alsa-tools and then run hdajackretask. Maybe it will help to solve the problem.

Thanks. I installed and run it. But no idea what to do there. Any ideas?

I did a dual boot with windows. There also no sound. So it‘s probably a hardware thing I guess. I‘ll send it back to the vendor and let it repair or replace….
Nevertheless thanks for your effort.

I did send it back and received it. Now everything works fine. They replaced the speakers. Sorry for bothering you with this …
