Sudo not working anymore

I edited the following files by replacing them with .pacnew:

/etc/shadow
/etc/pam.d/system-auth
/etc/sudoers
/etc/pam.d/su-l

Every time I try to use sudo or login I get the following error (as if I forgot my password):

[sudo] password for rob:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for rob:
sudo: PAM account management error: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info
sudo: a password is required

please help

Bad call. You should have followed this System Maintenance - Manjaro and read what that does + follow the in depth article pacman/Pacnew and Pacsave - ArchWiki

can I go back with timeshift or is the situation hopeless

It’s like it does not recognize my password anymore.

I am currently logged in if that matters

You should merge them, not replace.

Should work with timeshift.
