No sound - laptop CLEVO

Hi,

Since now five months, i have no sound on my CLEVO laptop. I’ve search on Google, try many solutions from Ubuntu, Linux Mint forums.

Jack is unvailable and when i googled “spurious response 0x0:0x0, last cmd=0x0f0004”, there is few no relevant results in my case.

I’ve tried the kernel 5.13.8-1.

This laptop appears to have the same kernel patch in place as many other Clevo models
0x1558, 0x8680, “Clevo NJ50LU” - sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c | Linux source code (v5.13.8) - Bootlin

I suggest you find the modprobe option model=generic in folder /etc/modprobe.d/ and remove it.
It won’t work because of an error in the driver name snd_hda_intel but it should not be needed with the kernel patch in place

I delete the files ~/.config/pulse/* and do pulseaudio -k too.

Manjaro recommends using a less invasive means to clear old databases that will not harm some configuration files in ~/.config/pulse/

rm ~/.config/pulse/*.tdb ~/.config/pulse/cookie

and do pulseaudio -k too

use of -k or -kill option is likely to result in pulseaudio.service becoming: inactive (dead)

This command will restart PulseAudio without systemd fatality in future

systemctl --user restart pulseaudio

But system will need a reboot to recover from the previous kill command

If sound is still not working as expected, please post ALSA data to show if analog audio devices are now detected

Hi,

Since my last post and a lot of work, i didn’t solve my sound problem.
After checking with W10 (USB stick), the sound card is not recognized (and so with Tails).

In march 2021, i added a 16 GB RAM strip to the computer. It could be the reason so before i send the laptop to the manufacturer, could you tell me if my diagnosis may be right ?

Anything to do with the BIOS ?
