No output to external monitors

External monitors are not working with X11 or Wayland. Have tried with optimus-manager and without. Monitors work when booted into Windows 10 partition so I know its not a hardware issue. The external monitor works during boot and in the SDDM then looses connection after login. I have tried things in similar issues, but nothing seems to work for me.

Any ideas for a solution?

check for displaylink and please give more details. how are your displays connected ? no one knows and do not expect that anyone is willing to dig into dark because of missing informations.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DisplayLink

Thanks for the reply. The type of displays and how they are connected was listed in my system configuration. They are both wired connections so I’m not sure looking into DisplayLink would help here. One is connected via HDMI and the other through thunderbolt/usb-c.

Here is my solution on KDE:

Switch to “Unify outputs” mode, i.e. duplicate mode, both montors work fine.
Then switch to external monitor only mode, it’ll work even after rebooting.

Maybe the problem is plasma related:

rename the folder kscreen to kscreen.bak in ~/.local/share and reboot

I agree. I’m having similar problem an this method tends to work.

The downside is when the monitors have different resolution, the smaller one will be picked when unifying outputs and you have to set the resolution again.
