After updating the BIOS, I can no longer access the internet. Has anybody experienced such a problem before? I have tried a live session and a Hirens boot hoping I could maybe fix this in Windows, but no luck.
I have resaved BIOS settings away from defaults, as recommended by the forum, so Onboard Lan Controller is enabled .
Other devices connected to my Ethernet cable have internet. However the Ethernet connection I had on my PC is gone after the BIOS update.
Unfortunately I cannot provide system info as I am writing this on my phone, but all advice greatly appreciated.
A long as you can boot into Manjaro you can still provide inxi and any other outputs that might be needed;
It may be a little less convenient:
1. Change directory to ~/ if you’re not already there.
2. inxi -zv8 > myinxi.txt will print the information to a text file named “myinxi.txt” in your User directory.
3. Copy the file to a USB (or directly to the phone if it has USB access). From there, you can either paste it’s content to the forum or to a paste-bin type service.
That’s one problem hopefully solved, and it should work just the same with outputs from other commands. As it stands, there seems insufficient information to do much more than guess.
In the meantime, knowing which DE you’re using and perhaps some specifics about the LAN controller (check your mainboard manual), the exact mainboard model, and the BIOS version used, might be useful.
What I can say is so far so good! I will have to see if problems start creeping in later. I doubt it, though. With a GPU upgrade and a BIOS update, all looking good!
