No internet after install

Hi!
Before installing Manjaro 18.0, in live, I had internet connection and I could use internet. Now, after installation I don’t have connection. I’m writing about Ethernet, not WiFi. Manjaro sees Ethernet Connection 1, but it’s crossed with red line. I tried setting up ip manually, but still no Internet. When I unplugged and plugged again Ethernet cable red line disappears, but still no internet. I tried this: No internet connection via ethernet
But after reboot Manjaro tries to “set the network address” and fails to do so. After failing it disconnects from the “Ethernet Connection 1”. I tried to use internet by USB network card, but still couldn’t.

what if you try
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

Still no internet. And now i have internet icon crossed with red line and Setting up Network Address.

You’ve messed your driver up somehow. You have both the r8168 and r8169 dtrivers loaded. They will conflict, so the adapter will not work. You will have to blacklist one of the drivers. I would suggest blacklisting r8168.

You may try this to see if your network adapter can be revived.

sudo systemctl stop NetworkManager

sudo ip link set enp4s0 down

sudo modprobe -r r8169

sudo modprobe -r r8168

sudo modprobe r8169

sudo ip link set enp4s0 up

sudo systemctl start NetworkManager

This is only a temporary solution, as it will only work until you reboot. You also have your adapters speed set incorrectly, but we’ll worry about that later.

Copy and paste each one of those commands individually into the terminal and run them with a few seconds between commands. Post all the inputs and outputs from each one of those commands on the forum please.

Well, i had 8169 blacklisted, but in that link I added someone said to remove it from blacklist

Well one of those two has to be blacklisted. Personally i’d blacklist r8168 as it has been buggy on the newer kernels.

Wasn’t it sort of obvious when you removed the blacklisting and your internet no longer worked that you’d done something wrong. Didn’t you you think it might have been good to mention this in your initial post. Luckily for you I asked for the right outputs to diagnose this. Otherwise this could have turned into a hundred post thread before this was resolved.

I went to a lot of trouble to post diagnostic commands customized to your outputs to raise your adapter and get your network working. You didn’t even have the courtesy to either run or post the outcome of those commands. That was three hours ago and you never even thought to give me any confirmation in your last post of the outcome of those commands.

I generally get tired very quickly of having to request multiple times for my command outputs be posted. Basically you have exceeded my patience for dealing with you already.

Fixing your issue should be easy enough now that I have explained to you why it isn’t working. You broke it, now you fix it.

Please mark the thread solved when you’ve fixed your issue.

I did wrote about it in first post and internet wasn’t working before removing 8169 from blacklist.

Well obviously you didn’t follow his instructions very well then, because you can’t remove the blacklist on 8169 without uninstalling or blacklisting 8168.

I would suggest blacklisting 8168 a and installing kernel 4.14. You still never said what the commands I posted above did (I will add an extra command in). I’m about done on this thread.

I just tried blacklisting r8168, but still the problem remains. I didn’t saw those commands and I don’t know how i did this. I read about blacklisting and just forgot about what was next. I’ll use them now and I’ll post output soon

You need to reboot.

I did

Install kernel 4.14 and use r8169

[qbsoon@Qbsoon ~]$ sudo -i
[sudo] hasło użytkownika qbsoon:
[Qbsoon ~]# systemctl stop NetworkManager
[Qbsoon ~]# ip link set enp4s0 down
[Qbsoon ~]# modprobe -r r8169
[Qbsoon ~]# modprobe -r r8168
[Qbsoon ~]# modprobe r8169
[Qbsoon ~]# ip link set enp4s0 up
[Qbsoon ~]# systemctl start NetworkManager
[Qbsoon ~]#

Ok, I’ll try 4.14.

I would suggest to go into Manjaro Settings Manager and install kernell 4.14 and also uninstall the r8168 driver.

I’m working on kernel 4.14, but in manager I have only 4.19.0-3, so I’m looking on internet for some kind of package, so I could download it and add copy it on pendrive and copy from pendrive to manjaro

You need to explain more clearly. In MSM you need to install k4.14. Do not uninstall 4.19.

In MSM uninstall the r8168 network driver.

You can confirm the kernel you are running with the command:

uname -r

Can you not use phone tethering or another wifi dongle to get internet access on this computer.

Yes, I understand, but I can’t install 4.14 without having one. I just found it on windows, downloaded, and now I have to bring it to manjaro. And then I’ll uninstall r8168

And I can’t use WiFi. I said I tried using USB network card. It connects to WiFi, but still no internet. This same network card works properly on Windows.
