No grub, black screen after boot, no input

So I updated my system yesterday and after a reboot i get greeted with a black screen. It skips the Grub menu, which was there before the update, after a couple of seconds from booting into LXDM is can see my mouse and keyboard power off (the lights turn off) and i can’t do anything. Below are the outputs for inxi -v7azy , mhwd -li , and journalctl --boot=-1 --priority=3 --catalog --no-pager.

Hope this helps out. Let me know if you need any more info on troubleshooting this problem.
For now I rolled back a timeshift backup so that my system works

Same here. I updated yesterday and now the machine does skip Grub somehow, possibly flashing a very short one liner. After that I have a black screen.

My laptop, which has been updated two days ago shows the same behavior today. Black screen, only difference is a blinkin cursor. The laptop shows a Grub screen which does not react to input, moves on and goes to black after the coumtdown.

I’m toast. Both machines are gone, I had downloaded an ISO to create a boot USB but had not imaged the stick yet.

What happened here? Some evil christmas timebomb or just bad luck?

Both machine have totally different hardware (AMD/AMD vs Intel/Intel). A bit scary!

Both machines are up. Desktop has been turned back to kernel 5.15, laptop “healed itself”. No idea what happened there. (After three hours black screen it suddenly went for a graphical login screen and acts as if nothing had happened…)

So the problem was fixed after I upgraded my hardware.
I switched from NVIDIA to AMD which gave me some problems at first, but after a quick and dirty partial reinstall, all is working fine and updated.
