No dmesg output when USB is connected

Hello

USB3.0 on my new ThinkPad X13 (AMD) does not seem to work: whenever I connect some USB2.0 (sound card, usb stick) device it is detected, shown in lsusb, appropriate dmesg output is generated, etc…

However whenever a newer device is connected (supposedly supporting USB3.0) nothing happens. Not even dmesg output is generated.

How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks

Please post the output of inxi -Fazy and check if your BIOS/UEFI is up to date.

The issue, as it appeared, was with a failing cable.
