No Bluetooth mouse and no touchpad

On waking my laptop the Bluetooth mouse wasn’t recognised. I have tried various commands including Bluetooth status, restart, synclient (cannot be found or installed).

I can bring up system settings in the terminal and using the arrow key scroll down to touch pad which shows the touchpad is not enabled but the arrow keys will not allow me to move to the settings on the right side of the screen to enable it.

I am writing this on my phone as I can’t use the laptop for anything other than the terminal.

Grateful for any help.

Hi @Ozdemon,

Not sure if this will work, but it’s worth a shot. Try:

sudo systemctl restart bluetooth

Thanks Midarthos, but I already tried that.

In that case

Thinking I had no choice I did a timeshift restore from the terminal. Still no mouse or touchpad. So I went to systemsettings, selected mouse and touchpad, used the tab key to select the touchpad and then enabled it with the spacebar. I couldn’t work out how to navigate to the bottom of the window (Apply) so I tried to close the window but got a popup asking if I wanted to apply the new settings. YES! With the touchpad enabled I was able to easily connect the bluetooth mouse. :grinning:
