No Batteries Available

I have had Manjaro since March on my Dell XPS 9300 and have had no problems with power management on my laptop. However, a couple of days ago I noticed that there was no percentage displayed on the battery widget on my panel. After some searching, I didn’t find any simple solution for this. I can see the battery percentage by using upower -d so there isn’t a problem there. I did have porblems updating electron4 about the same time, but I don’t know if its related at all…

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

Please read this:

and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…

An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)

:innocent:

Not OP, but I have the same problem:

Weird…

  1. Output of:

    sudo tlp-stat --battery

    Please?

  2. If you press the battery icon in the panel, do you get something like this:

    2020-09-26_16-34

  3. If you create a new user and log in there, does it have the same problem???

This is what my widget looked like:
Screenshot_20200927_144528 Screenshot_20200927_144551

I rebooted my laptop, and It’s now working again:

Screenshot_20200927_155502

I’ll include the output of tlp-stat anyway, in case it helps track down the bug (note: this is the output after reboot):

As the OP did not come back, and you confirm a reboot solves the issue, that’s the solution then!

P.S. In the future, when providing code/output, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text so that the output looks like this:

instead of like this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. This looks like a bug. I am running a Dell E7470, I also run a Dell E6410, both with Kernel 5.4.64-1 LTS, getting the same issue.
