Been there done that, I even have the T shirt. We were all new to Linux once.

Please supply additional information.

In the Terminal

inxi -zv8

Would be a good start. Use </> button at the top of the Edit Box, and place your result inside the multiple back ticks.

I see you have some nVidia hardware there. You problem may be a driver problem, but it’s best I leave this to someone with actual experience debugging nVidia issues.

thank you for you help anyway

No worries, someone will come in sooner or later.

Welcome to the forum! :vulcan_salute:

So your audio hardware is recognized, but you have two distinct audio devices. My preliminary advice therefore would be to…

  1. Use pavucontrol to select which audio device should be used — hint: use the one your speakers are plugged into; and…

  2. Check your volume controls to see whether anything is muted.

Nah, the Nvidia High Definition Audio is fully compatible with the Intel HDA driver. This is only Nvidia’s licensed version of it.

Thank you for your time, I switched to proprietary drivers and bang audio.

Ah yes, if your speakers are connected to your Nvidia adapter and/or they are built into the monitor, then you do need the proprietary driver to get them to produce sound. The nouveau driver does not handle sound.

First post gets a like from me just for using “bjorked”
