Applications take 10-20s to launch

THE PROBLEM

Every time i open a application/program that is not terminal based i have about 10-20-30 sec time til the program launches and then sometimes if the program opens a floating window (like a settings tab or a color palette stuff) the same problem occurs.

I have no idea what info to share with you, so i only share this:

Applications that has the problem:

  • Tunar / Nautilus
  • Pulse audio volume controll
  • Blueman

Basically everything besides terminal.

I really dont want to reinstall everything and i need my laptop for uni, so im really desperate to solve this, i dont want to use windows again!

I’m not an i3wm user and can’t help you further.

You can investigate yourself:

  • Check log $ journalctl --no-pager -p 3 -b
  • Open your favorite terminal and run Tunar / Nautilus command in the terminal to see what error message.

It is simple: xdg-desktop-portal-gnome should not been installed on NON-Gnome desktop environments. The package manager might install it by default as G is lower in the alphabetical order. It is a known bug and posted many times here already.
