Network slow to startup on first boot or reboot

I have researched the topics on this forum for slow network startup and have tried some of the settings changes suggested but I am not getting anywhere.
I have a multiboot setup and one of the boot up options is plain Archlinux.
I don’t have the problem there.
It is just Manjaro.
It appears that when I first get logged in I can ping an ip address like 8.8.8.8
But pinging www.google.com just hangs and after about a minute or 2 it starts pinging.
Seems to be something with DNS but I don’t know enough about the settings to know what to change.
So I am sure this can be solved.
Just not sure what to try .
Here is some system info:

I’ve tried flushing the cache but that didn’t help

It may be an issue with your DNS - your provider gives you one, but you can choose your own
and it is easy to change in the NetworkManager GUI.

Search for (for example) cloudflare DNS

They are one of many, but this is one of the fastest ones.
And they have instructions on how to do it as well.

In the tab for IPv4 and IPv6 settings of the connection editor
choose Method “Automatic (DHCP) addresses only”
instead of the default “Automatic”
fill in the server IP below, commata in between when you put two in
done

Tried that . Rebooted . Didn’t work
I put in
8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

It was my guess on what to try. I have no further guesses. :slightly_smiling_face:

You could try a stable kernel. It lists NetworkManager and systems-networkd. Maybe they conflict? Depending on how you set it up, systemd-resolved also might conflict.

You also set up tailscale, maybe it tries to connect?

Ok booted to 6.12 kernel and stopped tailscale service.
BAM network immediately.
I will look into this because I want to use tailscale.
Thanks for the pointer and help.
