Network Manager not working after disabling powersave

Hello!

So my internet was working too slow on manjaro (i have dualbooted it with windows) but it works fine and fast on windows, so i was searching for its solution and then i found this command on a post on this forum:

echo "wifi.powersave = 2" | sudo tee /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi-powersave.conf

then entered my password and rebooted, after the reboot my NetworkManager never started again, i tried the same command with value 0 and 3 to get it back working but i failed to do so.

This is the output when i run

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

output:

Job for NetworkManager.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status NetworkManager.service" and "journal ctl -xeu NetworlManager.service" for details

and these are the output of the above commands

systemctl status NetworkManager.service

How do i fix this issue ? also, if i have posted this far, why internet is so slow on manjaro though ? :[

also, i forgot to mention that the wifi icon isn’t in the bar anymore…if this helps. I am new so forgive me for my mistakes and incompatibility

As the problems started with the wifi-powersave.conf file change, can you paste here the contents of this file?

Hi @kola,

Simply try removing that file and see if that helps:

sudo rm /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi-powersave.conf

Edit:

Could be drivers. Please provide the output of:

inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --width

it is just a single line

“wifi.powersave = 0”

Should be two…

[connection]
wifi.powersave = 2

yup, worked just fine. Thank you

on it

I honestly have no idea. What I can suggest is trying a different kernel. Perhaps 6.1, the current SLTS. To install it, run:

sudo mhwd-kernel --install linux61

Reboot into it:

All available kernels installed on your system will be presented upon booting up. GNU GRUB is visible with a couple of options. Choose “Advanced Options for Manjaro Linux” by using the arrow keys on your keyboard and then ↵ Enter.

On the next screen (as illustrated) are backup copies of each kernel version installed (which will also be automatically removed if or when a kernel version is deleted). To select a kernel, simply use the arrow keys to highlight the desired version, and then press ↵ Enter.

And see if it helps. If it does, violet!

Remember to remove your current one if you’ll be sticking to 6.1. Too do so, from 6.1, run:

sudo mhwd-kernel --remove linux61

Seeing ad you’re new, let me just tell you: keep your system up-to-date. Don’t neglect maintenance. See:

Take a look here:

there is no “iwlwifi.conf” file in that folder in my computer…

EDIT: and suddenly the i get a repetitive alert of " no internet connection" . It wasn’t like this before
EDIT 2: so changing to kernel 6.1 was a huge help, thank you both of you

Yes, but you can create it and try to set some of the optiones described in the thread and see the impact in performance or reliability.

so i did it and ther performance has definitely improved, i will inform again if this issue persists. Thank you again
