Need some help with ttf-unifont when upgrading package from ttf-unifont 15.0.06-1 to ttf-unifont 15.1.02-1

I’m upgrading ttf-unifont using yay but I’m getting an error while compiling. Can anyone help me with this issue?

==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
 -> error making: ttf-unifont-exit status 4
-> Failed to install the following packages. Manual intervention is required:
ttf-unifont - exit status 4

Do you already have ttf-unifont.otf?

The TTF equivilents of OTF fonts can be built manually:

cd /usr/share/fonts
make truetype

That seems to be all that’s needed.

This information came from ttf-unifont 15.1.02-1 (AUR), which is where you could direct some queries.

I have both TTF and OTF installed on my system.

Isn’t OTF simply a better, more extended format that came after TTF?

OTF is always the better of the two… so I’d keep that and remove the TTF.

Generally, yes.

However, I’d sometimes question the O in OTF, considering the major players involved.

OpenType also flaunts its cross-platform support … (Win and Mac).
Notice anything missing?

Stuck in the '90s there, you either have a PC or a Mac… and if you are lucky, you can afford a nice Nokia to go with them.

I knew someone in the 90’s who had both a PC and a Mac …
– oh, and a lovely pair of Nokia’s.
