Need Auto Mounting and Write Permissions to SD card

Not sure if this is a system question or Gwenview.
Since the update to KDE 5.22.3 I was not able to access my SD card. After a bit of digging I can now mount it manually in konsole as root via the command:

sudo mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt

After it is mounted Gwenview can see the SD Card, so that is some progress. But mounted the card is read only.

I thought I had the right command to give myself read/write permissions. I used the following:

sudo chmod o+rwx /dev/mmcblk0p1 -R

But that changed nothing. Not the correct command?

In sum, I want Gwenview to auto mount the card like it was doing before the 5.22.3 update …and with rw permissons.

So, how do I do all that?

You need to adjust the permissions of the mountpoint where you mounted it:

$ sudo mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt && sudo chmod o+rwX /mnt -R

Note the capital X in permissions - you’ll only want to grant execute permissions to directories (to change into), not all files.

I think that did it!! Thanks!

There was still a bit of work to do. I wanted Dolphin to see the SD Card just like it was a HD.

For my Rico card reader I needed to add the kernel module for it.

tifm_sd

I added that line to the modules.conf and issued the command:

sudo modprobe tifm_sd

Now the system sees the SD card.
