Three days ago I update manjaro.
Thunar is very often crashed for me.
I wanted to know the program has bugs or the problem of my system?
Is there the problem for you?

Today I updated system.

I debuging thunar
Two the problems arise
1:In pixman_region32_init_rect: Invalid rectangle passed
Set a breakpoint on ‘_pixman_log_error’ to debug

4340 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/usr/lib/libpixman-1.so.0", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 3
4341 write(2, "*** BUG ***\nIn pixman_region32_i"..., 117 <unfinished ...>

For example: when open directory crash thunar
2: segmentation fault (core dumped) thunar

3950 statx(AT_FDCWD, "$HOME/Music", AT_STATX_SYNC_AS_STAT|AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW|AT_NO_AUTOMOUNT, STATX_ALL, {stx_mask=STATX_ALL|STATX_MNT_ID, stx_attributes=0, stx_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, stx_size=4096, ...}) = 0
1198 --- SIGSEGV {si_signo=SIGSEGV, si_code=SEGV_MAPERR, si_addr=0x40000000} ---
3950 openat(AT_FDCWD, "$HOME/Music", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_CLOEXEC|O_DIRECTORY) = ?
1240 <... poll resumed> <unfinished ...>) = ?
1200 <... poll resumed> <unfinished ...>) = ?
1199 <... poll resumed> <unfinished ...>) = ?
3950 +++ killed by SIGSEGV (core dumped) +++
1200 +++ killed by SIGSEGV (core dumped) +++
1240 +++ killed by SIGSEGV (core dumped) +++
1199 +++ killed by SIGSEGV (core dumped) +++
1198 +++ killed by SIGSEGV (core dumped) +++

First error think of manjaro

Someone if it can report Bug
Thanks

@Manjjj you can report the issues of thunar here: Issues · Xfce / thunar · GitLab

I wouldn’t report this to Xfce / thunar when pixman_region32 is copyright protection law. I would find other copy of that music file.

You probably tried to play it in Music player and kept crashing. Well it has copyright protection. This has nothing to do with thunar having a core dump issue.

I didn’t play music.
This was just an example, in all folders this happens

So lets take a different approach on crashing thunar.

I would try to reinstall xfce-goodies

sudo pacman -Syyu update system first

sudo pacman -S xfce4-goodies

xfce-goodies include:

  • Archive management for Thunar (thunar-archive-plugin)
    • Media tags editor for Thunar (thunar-media-tags-plugin)

Nothing else works reinstall xfce4.

But just download Gnome DE and logout of xfce4. Then login to Gnome and purge and reinstall xfce4.

Good Luck

This error(crashes) occurs when the thunar is “single click to active items”
Does not occur in normal mode of crash “duble click to active items”

I’ve reported countless bugs to the Thunar developer but it’s the usual rubbish: it’s a feature or it doesn’t happen for me. So they usually ignore the report or close it. The simple fact is that Thunar has a number of usability issues and this latest clipboard bug is one of them. It’s great to have someone working on Thunar again but it’s one bug after another at the moment. Just my humble vent. And yes, if I was professional developer I would gladly offer my services (starting with a complete rewrite of Thunar)
