My system is very slow, even with high end specs

I’m new to Manjaro, i use it for front-end development and my system is really slow. If i open vscode, a few web browsers and discord i already start lagging. The mouse has a high delay, switching between desktops takes like 1.5-2 seconds, and even the audio keeps cutting.

These are my specs

These are the commands i ran to setup everything, if it has something to do with the problem

sudo pacman-mirrors -f && sudo pacman -Syyuu
sudo pacman -S --needed base-devel fish git timeshift yay discord spotify-launcher starship dbeaver flameshot peek ttf-fira-code github-cli
yay -S google-chrome asdf-vm visual-studio-code-bin postman-bin postgresql-libs
...setup fish shell commands...
asdf plugin add nodejs
asdf install nodejs latest && asdf install nodejs 16.14.2 && asdf global nodejs latest && asdf reshim

npm install --global hasura-cli serverless
sudo pacman -S docker docker-compose python-docker python-pip ansible libxcrypt-compat python-setuptools
sudo systemctl enable docker.service
sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

Reduce swappiness to 10

echo vm.swappiness=10 | sudo tee -i /etc/sysctl.d/99-swappiness.conf
sudo sysctl --system

You should look into your GPU setup - is the GPU supported by Nvidia at all?

I don’t think so, it’s a 2009 graphics card. I have a spare rx 6500xt and gt 710, if the gpu is really the problem do you think this one of these would work?

Your card is not supported by nvidia on linux 6.1 - I would use a newer card - perhaps the AMD is a good choice - at least it is the one I would begin with.

Driver for GeForce 210 under Linux - Linux - NVIDIA Developer Forums

Thank you, i’ll try it and come back with the results!

a word of caution - uninstall the nvidia driver before switching card

Alright, can you link me to any resource on how to do it?

That depends on how you installed it - if at all.

List installed drivers with

mhwd -li

Then remove with

sudo mhwd -r pci video-nvidia-340xx
