MPV not play when Audacious running or in paused state

When audacious playing an audio or when its playback is paused, opened video in a MPV, is stuck on first frame. I can seek, but still does not play. VLC player plays without audio.

And when i quit Audacious, run MPV playback and launch Audacious again, Audacious opens with error:
ALSA error: snd_pcm_open failed: Device or resource busy.

I wish both play at same time or at least when playback in one is paused then other app plays

When i use ā€œMedia Player Classic Qute Theaterā€ or ā€œClementineā€ instead of Audacious, then problem is not there.

Yes, alsa behaves like that if hardware or software mixing is not enabledā€¦ So that is a reason for using pulseaudio on top  I guess your apps use alsa directly and not pulseaudio.

yes, thank you both, after switching from ALSA to PA in Audacious settings, problem is gone.
Do you have idea please how to overcome this similar (sound) issue?

No one?

Today i had following issue with audio. Audacious playing the .flac audio file, i see in its settings the Output plugin is ā€œALSA Outputā€.
But Firefox web browser fails to play the videos. mp4 for example, it is stuck or go one frame when pause/resume, but when i quit Audacious, playback in Firefox automatically begin.

So in Audacious settings i switched to ā€œPulseAudio Outputā€, and simultaneous playback works in both Firefox, Audacious and VLC (both SW using PA atm)
