The nouveau driver with a RTX 3060? Really? Maybe that is your issue. Try installing the hybrid driver from MHWD in a TTY (after updating your system; access TTY with CTRL+ALT+3 or whatever TTY number the desktop is not on).

I’m a bit of a noob with arch and I didn’t know that would be a problem. I also forgot to mention MHWD somehow broke, along with hardware settings trough manjaro system settings. Manjaro settings and MHWD freeze when I try to use them.

Is your system fully up to date?

In terminal (again access a TTY with CTRL+ALT+F3, and login here) run sudo pacman -Syyu to update the system. When it say “Nothing to do” then you are up to date.

Then you can run the hybrid driver installation with sudo mhwd -i pci video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-prime if you want to try that (possible to reverse it even if it breaks the desktop with command from TTY sudo mhwd -r pci video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-prime).

mhwd still gets stuck even after running pacman -Syyu.

You will have to be more explicative than that if you want help, having me thinking and asking everything you should already have said is kinda wasting time.

What happened, what is the terminal output?

What happened, what did you do exactly and what was the result.

Sorry for the late reply!

After running sudo pacman -Syyu, the terminal outputs this

:: Synchronizing package databases...
 core                  169.2 KiB   483 KiB/s 00:00 [######################] 100%
 extra                1854.1 KiB  2.40 MiB/s 00:01 [######################] 100%
 community               6.9 MiB  5.60 MiB/s 00:01 [######################] 100%
 multilib              182.1 KiB  2.96 MiB/s 00:00 [######################] 100%
:: Starting full system upgrade...
 there is nothing to do

after that I tried running sudo mhwd -h and just sudo mhwd and the terminal outputted nothing. It looked like it was going to do something because I couldn’t run any other commands until I pressed ^C, but nothing ever happened.

Do you go into a TTY as I explained or do you open a terminal on the broken desktop?

I tried running all commands on both a terminal and TTY and the results were the exact same.

OK seems like your system has some kind of corruption. Not sure what to do now, I think there is a command to check packages but I will need to search.

I found this that you may try, be aware that having packages or files listed doesn’t mean there is an issue in all cases. It can be normal that it warns you in some cases.
Try these commands and give the output:

sudo paccheck --list-broken --recursive
sudo paccheck --md5sum --quiet

Depending on the output, we may see if you have all your packages corrupted or some important packages broken.

Ran this command after sudo paccheck --listbroken --recursive

Gave me this
