Mount Western Digital external drive on manjaro

I have a Western Digital usb drive that I use with Mac Book but Im moving to an other laptop with Manjaro 20 and for now Im working with Manjaro as Virtual Machine Through VMware and I cant mount the drive to Manjaro
Do I have to change the format of this drive?
I hope for some help
Thanks Josef

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…

  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)

:+1:

P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time

at least we - and you - would have to know
what the file system is
that is on that WD disk
that you want to use and “mount to Manjaro”

If you so far only used it with a Mac Book
it’s not self evident that the file system on it is anything that is easily readable/usable from any Linux by default.

Yes, I know that it is Mac Extended format but I understand that Manjaro must recognize it. Yesterday I made an update of the WD utilities and now I can mount the Drive in Manjaro. I hope it continues like this.
Thanks

  1. In the future, when providing code/output, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text so that the output looks like this:

    instead of like this:

(as that makes both our lives much easier)

  2. No need to do anything right now as I’m an editor here on this site and have fixed it for you already. However, in the future I might not see your post so review my edits by pushing the orange pencil above the post I just fixed.

  3. The drive does not seem to be connected to the VMWare subsystem at all:

so it’s not a Manjaro issue, but a VMWare issue. Connect the drive on a VMWare level first and then repost the same output.

Sorry for the confusion, what happened is that Firefox is in the Hebrew language and so it wrote from left to right. I already changed it to English and I hope you see it well.
As for the WD drive, it was connected through VMware so the code sent was the result of that connection
Thanks.

Please contact VMWare support or read more VMWare docs if you don’t have support as the disk is not accessible by Manjaro and I double-checked::

:man_shrugging:

Thank you very much but I don see the option to change the direction of the writing to left to right
Josef

FYI: that doesn’t seem to be an issue: I can read your posts just fine.

Finally I opted to format the whole drive to ext4 with gparted and now I can use it with Manjaro.
Thank you very much for your advice
Josef
