Monitor flickering after suspend

#10

Check the logs for errors (use proper formatting of the output)

journalctl -b -p3 --no-hostname --no-pager
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I am not sure what are the logs when in wayland @bogdancovaciu ?

#11

Well, i can only run wayland in VBox install and only Gnome, but is irrelevant in many aspects … On bare metal i can’t use wayland at all. The logs should be the same.

#12

Then we can try to add that kernel parameter at boot.
At boot menu press e then at the linux line add i915.enable_psr=0 after quiet and then press F10 to continue booting. Test how it works. If it doesn’t the try with: i915.enable_rc6=0
AFAIK using them both is redundant and not needed (not recommended)

Another thing, some people uninstalled the xf86-video-intel but i’m not sure what needs after that …

How to write/edit a proper and easily readable Discourse forum post

Please, follow @bogdancovaciu guidance, he knows better.

#15

Nope … nothing about this

And this is quite strange

used to come up back in 2014

#16

I tried but still same problem.

#17

Maybe more relevant info with

There is nothing obviously wrong here. Maybe this is relevant but it may need web search

ACPI FADT declares the system doesn't support PCIe ASPM, so disable it
kernel: acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC: OS supports [ExtendedConfig ASPM ClockPM Segments MSI]
kernel: acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC: platform does not support [PME AER]
kernel: acpi PNP0A08:00: FADT indicates ASPM is unsupported, using BIOS configuration

You could check any relevant BIOS setting…

Have you posted Xorg log somewhere?

#20

Personally i think on a desktop machine, removing the tlp package is safe and better.
Also, maybe the

is simply not capable to properly wake up a 4K display from suspend …

#21

Can’t find these…

file is not found

done

It works in Windows so it should be.

#22

No, not for dual graphics. I mean you can install hybrid-intel so far as I know

#23

I should had added that is not capable to properly wake up a 4K display from suspend under linux …

[/quote]On Gnome they are local

ls -l ~/.local/share/xorg

I don’t know if this is relevant, but it seems the server changes/resizes framebuffer very often, like if (dis)connecting monitors repeatedly. Maybe check monitor cables?

Also some other observation is the “empty/missing” frequency at metamodes on most resolutions, except 2 or 3. Maybe try to set manually at the options with a real value (like 60)?

#27

This “disconnect” is exactly the problem, it only happens after suspend.

You mean xorg.conf? Is it even relevant when using wayland?

#28

No, I mean your GUI System Settings for monitors.

It’s already set to 60Hz
