Mkinitcpio v40 disabled fallback image creation for new installs

Is it really necessary to regenerate the initramfs, if I’m planning to disable future fallback image creation? Asking because the original section doesn’t specifically ask for it.

The Known Issues and Solutions wiki post in recent [Testing Update] announcements has been updated to include changes to ArchWiki

To disable fallback image creation on older installed systems

ArchWiki - Mkinitcpio - Fallback intramfs generation

• Change PRESETS=('default') line to PRESETS=('default' 'fallback') in the respective .preset files in /etc/mkinitcpio.d/.
• Regenerate initramfs
• Update your boot loader configuration.

Disabling fallback image creation has also been suggested as an alternative to installing mkinitcpio-firmware ^AUR to resolve WARNING: Possibly missing firmware messages during updates. But suggestion is less specific and was not recommended

• The first (and recommended) way is to install the package mkinitcpio-firmware from the AUR. This package will pull in all of the firmware modules reported in the warning that you’re seeing.
• The second way is to disable the creation of a fallback initramfs in the preset(s) for your kernel(s). These presets can be found under /etc/mkinitcpio.d.
