Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a very frustrating issue with my triple-monitor setup on Manjaro KDE. Whenever I open a window’s properties/settings (e.g., in VLC or Kate), the menu items are consistently displayed on the leftmost monitor(primary Monitor), even though the main window is on the rightmost monitor. If i set primary Monitor to right monitor i have same problem(opposite direction). This makes it nearly impossible to work normally, as I have to physically turn my head and reach across my desk to interact with the menus.
Here’s a summary of the problem:
Setup: 3 monitors running on Manjaro KDE Plasma.
Issue: When I open the settings/properties of a window (e.g., right-clicking and selecting “Settings” in VLC), the menu that appears is displayed on a completely different screen (the leftmost one), instead of near the main window.
Programs Affected: This is happening in multiple applications, including VLC, Kate and Double Commander.
Impact: Makes using these programs very difficult because the menus are not accessible in a convenient way.
Things I’ve already checked (and haven’t resolved the issue):
Monitor Configuration in KDE: I’ve carefully verified the monitor order, resolution, scaling, and primary monitor settings in KDE’s “Display and Monitor” settings. The physical arrangement matches the settings. Tried switching which is the primary monitor with no luck.
KDE Window Behavior: I’ve experimented with different window placement and focus settings in KDE’s “Window Management” options.
KDE Compositor: Verified the compositor is enabled
Application-Specific Settings: I initially thought it was a VLC issue, but it’s happening in multiple unrelated applications now.
Wayland/X11: I’m currently using X11.
System Information:
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
Kernel Version: 6.12.19-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 (x2 – SLI is disabled)
Could anyone offer any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix this misplaced menu issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
