community repo contains version 13.8.0.
Further question: Does Manjaro have a mechanism for flagging out of date apps?

If you change to testing branch you can install 13.8.1-3 from Manjaro’s community repo.

for telling me that MediathekView is back in the repos. 
… so there is no need to use ‘qmediathekview’ from AUR anymore.
