Last post in this thread:

Project was archived over two years ago and will be removed from the Manjaro repos.

Thats, quite honestly, a pretty dumb reason to simply remove it.

You could at least have asked about my opinion first…

There is (or was) an active thread about this app on this forum, last post from me from 20 Aug, which is now closed without asking me first as well, thanks for that btw.

I still actively host and support the server-side software required for it with a legendary uptime of ~100% for the last year:

I have a Grafana instance with alertmanager on top of that…

The github repo is archived because the app doesn’t receive any updates any more from the original author.

But since I’m still around, actively monitor the app and am absolutely on board with further developing matray in case it ever needs an update (which there was no need for during the past 2 years), I cannot understand your reason for removing it.

If you are under the impression that it’s not actively supported/managed, let me tell you: you’re wrong.

Consequently, I would like matray to be kept in the Manjaro repos.

If you want, i can properly fork it on my Forgejo and not mark it as archived over there.

Update: Here you go: https://git.nerdvpn.de/NerdVPN.de/matray

Final thought: Don’t just kill an app that still works perfectly fine and is still supported by the official predecessor of it’s author - me.

Me and a lot of other users still use and love it.

Thank you

PS: Sorry for hard words. I’m German. We write in rough language sometimes.

Heya,

Great that it is still maintained, iirc I did some translation for it a long time ago, nice that there is a future for this app. Pinging @Yochanan

Cool, thanks

Since this topic is now closed but was actively used by users asking for help, can you edit your “closed message” like this, adding a link to my git server so that people can find it and open issues there in the future:

If you seek help with matray, please open an issue here: https://git.nerdvpn.de/NerdVPN.de/matray

No need to reopen the topic imo, it’s better like this.

I’ve also asked moson to put a link on his archived repo to my repo, so that it’s clear that it’s still supported.

Done.

Besides…

It currently fails to build and depends on Libsoup 2 which is EOL. libsoup will eventually be removed from the repos as well.

@Weidenwiesel or anyone else: If you decide maintain a fork of the project and rebase it on Libsoup 3 or something, let me know. At the very least, it needs to build.

I’ll take care of it.

Fork is already here: https://git.nerdvpn.de/NerdVPN.de/matray
