The xfce-minimal ISO has now also been updated:
Thank you! Will keep this in mind in case of reinstall
Looks like incorrect links (error 404)
Wooops! Sorry. Links are fixed now.
What is the differences between normal and minimal edition.
I also think that a link to more information concerning these differences and what is omitted in the minimal edition would be useful. Does the latter work more efficiently with low RAM computers, for example?
I guess no, because basically kernel and/or systemd is the same
The minimal edition quite simply has less software pre-installed.
Like that the ISO is smaller with only 1.48GB vs. 1.91GB of the full edition, and it is up to you what you actually want to have installed on your system.
To be exact:
The following packages are installed in the minimal edition only, representing light-weight replacements for other applications
midori # browser parole # media player sylpheed # mail client
The following are only pre-installed in the full edition and not in the minimal:
audacious catfish cups cups-pdf cups-pk-helper firefox galculator-gtk2 ghostscript gimp git gsfonts gtk3-print-backends hexchat hplip jdk8-openjdk jre8-openjdk jre8-openjdk-headless libreoffice-still manjaro-wallpapers-18.0 manjaro-xfce-gtk3-settings mlocate patchutils pidgin poppler-data pyqt5-common python-pillow python-pip python-pyqt5 python-reportlab splix steam-manjaro subversion system-config-printer thunderbird ttf-droid ttf-inconsolata ttf-indic-otf ttf-liberation viewnior vlc wallpapers-2018 xfburn xfce4-cpufreq-plugin xfce4-cpugraph-plugin xfce4-dict xfce4-diskperf-plugin xfce4-fsguard-plugin xfce4-genmon-plugin xfce4-mailwatch-plugin xfce4-mount-plugin xfce4-mpc-plugin xfce4-netload-plugin xfce4-notes-plugin xfce4-sensors-plugin xfce4-smartbookmark-plugin xfce4-systemload-plugin xfce4-time-out-plugin xfce4-timer-plugin xfce4-verve-plugin xfce4-wavelan-plugin xfce4-weather-plugin yelp
Wait a minute...
What is libreoffice-still doing in there?
I believe this was an xfce install not a KDE...
And does any system component depend on jre?
Thank you, I was just wondering what is installed on the full version. If the difference, in size, is only 400mb~ then I'd just install the full. At least, this way, requires minimal configuration on my end.
