I found someone who had a similar problem on the archived forum, but their solution doesn’t work for me. Would a modified version of these commands work?
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-mhwd.conf
sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/mhwd-gpu.conf
sudo rm /etc/modules-load.d/mhwd-gpu.conf
You can try the above.
I did try that after 390xx didn’t work. I will just reinstall manjaro tomorrow morning, thanks for all the help.
Just stick to the driver MHWD detects for you. Apparently, installing the last NVIDIA driver for an ancient graphic card can break your system. Save all your data while into the Live CD environment, and pick the nonfree drivers at the beginning.
I have everything important backed up so that isn’t too much of a problem. The only reason I got into this mess was because I was trying to get the Nvidia X Server Settings to work. Everytime I opened it I would get the message that it isn’t configured properly and to run nvidia-xconfig as root. That wouldn’t work and after trying a lot of other solutions I figured the drivers weren’t correct. If anyone knows how to fix this I’d greatly appreciate it, thanks.
This message?
Yeah, I also have it, but as all is working nonetheless, never investigated.
