Firefox, plex media player, lutris crashes, spontanious system freezes

hi folks,

i am quite desperate with the 30.12.2020 update.
Before that almost everything runs quite decent and I said it was a good step leaving windows.

after fixing black screens, getting rid of the old 45xx nvidia config, I am still having issues.
doesnt matter if I use free or proprietary drivers.

firefox crashes on youtube, plex media player sometimes just looses all icons and video, lutris (overwatch) is not possible to play ranked, as it probably crash after 2-5 min

and every 2-5 days the entire system freezes.

so since all above was running prior 30.12.2020 update, i have a strong feeling this is related to the driver.

i tried using LTS kernel with free and nonfree drivers, i tried it with 5.10 kernen, free and nonfree driversā€¦
I just run out of knowledge on how to fix that.

as of now i am on 5.10 with proprietary drivers.

would someone be so kind to help me to get the system in a stable condition?

sudo dmesg -HT

uuups, sorry forgot to mention:

  • XFCE
  • ryzen 1700x
  • 16gb RAM
  • GTX1080TI OC

You need to provide the ā€˜System Informationā€™ for your computer. How to do this is clearly documented in the above post.

This does not look good.

Also, you seem to have full disk encryption, maybe this is slowing down your system and causes the issue. Do you really need full disk encryption? If not I would recommend backing up and re-installing without encryption.

Or wait until someone joins with more knowledge in encryption.
